On the Occasion of Rare Disease Day, We Have Prepared a Coloring Book for Our Little Ones

The Croatian Alliance for Rare Diseases created a coloring book for our youngest members and their friends.

We invite all ‘zebras’ to support those affected by rare diseases and join our campaign for Rare Disease Day 2023!

A doctor explained to his students that rare diseases are like zebras – when we hear the sound of hooves, we’ll first think of a horse, not a zebra. That's how the zebra became a symbol of people with rare diseases!

But the connection goes further – just as stripes help zebras with camouflage, rare diseases often remain concealed, resembling other illnesses, so the correct diagnosis is usually preceded by several mistakes.           

Due to this symbolism, we have chosen the zebra as the theme for this year's campaign, and we invite you to get involved in the following ways:

• Children can draw a zebra as the symbol of rare diseases however they imagine it
• Below is a sample of the coloring book with zebra motifs that they can color if they prefer
• Send your creative zebras to our email address: rijetke.bolesti@gmail.com by February 10, 2023.
• Drawings and coloring pages will be posted in the collage form throughout February on our Facebook and Instagram profiles

The campaign will also involve many schools from across Croatia, which are part of our support network for students with rare diseases
