1. Quality Youth Mentoring for Inclusion

Duration: 1.1.2023. – 1.1.2025.

Amount: 9.575,00€

A multiplication event of the Erasmus+ project "Quality Mentorship for Youth Inclusion" was held.

The Croatian Alliance for Rare Diseases held a multiplication event of the Erasmus+ project “Quality Mentorship for Youth Inclusion,” co-financed by the European Union, at the Youth Health Centre in Zagreb. The main goal of this project is to establish and consolidate a European network called "Quality Mentorship for Youth Inclusion," composed of national organizations from various EU member states in the field of rare diseases. This project promotes the empowerment of young people and children affected by rare diseases who face similar challenges across Europe.
The mentorship program seeks a relational meeting between the mentor and mentee through a process of mutual acquaintance across various stages. In this way, the mentor will act as a "big brother," offering skills and techniques that enable the mentee to become aware of their strengths and priorities, and to improve their resilience and emotional management. Therefore, active listening, emotional intelligence, and empathy are the three foundational pillars of this program.

Croatian Alliance for Rare Diseases thanks all project participants for their involvement and the Youth Health Center for the venue.

This project aims to make vocational education and training more inclusive and accessible for individuals with rare diseases, promoting equality throughout their educational journey.

The project also focuses on training (future) professionals who are not people with rare diseases to care for this target group, to avoid possible risks and negligence due to lack of knowledge, and to enable students with rare diseases to have better employability.

Therefore, the project has established an innovative method of cooperation between experts in rare diseases and professors in the field of vocational education, allowing for the inclusion of rare disease-related content and methods in teaching processes.

Through this collaboration, the following results were created and achieved:

- Methodological guide for the inclusion of students with rare diseases and the use of educational aid kits for the care of people with rare diseases in vocational education
